: Hey,
: I am not Brent, but I use 2 42's as well. I use them L and R. I rarely go over 500ms, so the 41's would do just as well. I like them because they are very warm (no hard edge thing), and they have those wonderful knobs for easy tweaking!I would like to hear what Brent says, but this is my 2 cents.
: : Hi Brent!
: : I'm a big fanm of your playing and I found your web site recently.
: : I noticed that you use 2 Lexicon PCM42s for your delays. Michael Landau does the same thing. Why is that? Is there something significant that makes these units sound better than the new digital delays?....or is it that there are no menus to scroll through when setting up your sound??
: : Do the PCM41s sound the same??....I noticed that they are not quite as fexible when setting delay times, but they are ALOT cheaper!! :)
: : Do you typicaly use reverb on your guitar, or do you go more for some delay/ambience instead? DO you have any particular settings you'd like to share?
: : Thanks alot for your help! Love your playing and sounds! :)

hi ian and michael---i started using the 2 pcm 42's even before i had the bradshaw rig because of the sound of them. my echoplex sounded great, but with cartage transport, i found the lexicons to travel from session to session much easier. they sound great, are very easy to use, and you also have one piece of gear designated to do one thing-which sometimes is nice. i would typically have these panned left-and right, and would vary the times to go with the tempo of the song--either doing quarter notes or eights with one, and a different multiple of delay with the other as to spread the sound out in full stereo image. as far as there being any difference between the 42's and 41's---there's probably not a lot, but with the led read-out of delay times, i prefer the 42's. also, i rarely use reverb, except for specific instances on guitar, but sure love that old spring reverb sound when appropriate---thanks, brent...
